About working with insurance companies:

Some insurance’s only requirement is that you see a therapist who is licensed.  Other insurance companies require that you see someone contracted with them, an in-network provider someone listed on their provider panel. Other insurance companies allow you to see someone in or out of network, which may differ in the amount of out of pocket expense to you.

Please be aware that the company you have for medical coverage may or may not be the same company that covers your outpatient mental health services.

I suggest that you call your insurance company directly to ensure that I am still on their mental health provider list.  When you contact your insurance company ask if pre-authorization is required, clarify your co-pay, cost share or deductible.  At the left is a list of insurance companies that I am currently part of their provider network.

If you are seeking services without being covered by insurance, I am happy to discuss my fee for service with you.  If you are seeking services and have been a victim of a crime within El Paso county, you may be eligible for Victim Compensation through the District Attorney office. The program helps cover the cost of outpatient therapy.  For more information contact them at

Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

-You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

-Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service..  You will be given a GFE to read and sign before your first appointment with this provider.

-If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call this provider
